Welcome to the hub for
This Arc Was Skipped- a creative original zine project that hopes to put the creative imaginations of writers and artists together to create fake a anime and its fanfiction~
Check the tabs above for what TAWS is, mod intro, schedule for the current project, and more!Current Status: Interest Checks opening soon!

☆So what is this anyways?☆

I, Vintage, have what those call a “too much gene.” My brain is on active mode 25/8 with no signs of stopping. Which means at 2 A.M. I am relayed ideas and concepts at the speed of sound to which I have to immediately write down so I do not lose them. This has resulted in a spreadsheet FULL of ideas and concepts that are just... sitting there. Waiting patiently for some day someone to use them. My hope with “This Arc Was Skipped” is to bring together other creative folks to work together and execute these original ideas!“But, Vintage” you may say “what are you ACTUALLY looking for?!” I am looking to provide writers, artists, and other creatives a concept and space to just create without having to go through the process of actually THINKING of those foundational pieces. Also to foster collaboration between various creatives and have a community of other like minded folks to thrive and connect. And yanno. These ideas could be put to better use than collecting dust in a spreadsheet!

☆About☆

This is the (potentially) first volume of “This Arc Was Skipped”, a zine series based around fake anime titles and their plots! This zine will be DIGITAL ONLY unless interest checks state otherwise. However as I (Vintage) am running this essentially by myself it is probably unlikely it will move past the digital stage. We will be showcasing art, writing, and digital merchandise dependent on interest check results for “This Arc Was Skipped” in general, not just per theme. This zine series will be SFW, UNLESS the theme/ polls on social media dictates otherwise (i.e. Harem Style may have a NSFW companion zine)

☆FAQ☆

☆What is a zine?
A zine is a collection of art, writing, and sometimes other mediums combined into a digital PDF or physical booklet. Zines usually center around one specific subject or theme and can be from one person or a collection of people.
☆Will this be a charity or for-profit zine?
This zine will actually be 100% free and digital only. My goal is however to advertise commission status’ for all contributors at the time of posting their social spotlights and keep a running tab on the Carrd with their socials/ where the commissions are available
☆But what if a contributor REALLY loves the premise, and wants to use it outside of the zine?
This is something that can be discussed with me; I am more than willing to let ideas go, however, I will need to be credited as being a presence in the project beyond TAWS, and the contributing partner ALSO needs to agree. Depending on the circumstances contracts may be drafted :)
☆Will there be NSFW content?
Not primarily. This is a SFW zine series. Later volume themes may garner interest in a NSFW version; this will be handled via socials and polls to determine if there should be a NSFW add on.
☆Will there be merch?
Yes and it will be digital only!
☆Will this zine feature alternate media art?
If the desire arises, yes! Content creators of any kind are welcome to apply. This is dependent on the results of the interest check though!
☆Will follower count matter in considering the applicants?
Not at all!! Just because the algorithm isn’t nice/ you’re new to posting/ people forgot to follow for whatever reason doesn’t have any weight in determining contributors :).
☆How old are contributors required to be?
We ask that all contributors be above the age of 16, since this is a teen-rated zine. I will be using social media bios to determine this, please make sure your age is listed! If it is not listed somewhere you will NOT be considered as an applicant
☆How will contributors be compensated?
Since this is a completely free and digital project all contributors will be provided the full zine and all digital merch. There will be a contributor only illustration designed by Vintage which will be provided upon volume completion. Also as stated previously commission status’ will be shared throughout the project period!
Got a question that hasn’t been answered? Please feel free to DM the zine on our social medias or send an email with “Q&A” in the title to [email protected]

☆SPECS☆

The amount of page artists and writers are determined by several factors including interest per prompt, BUT the desire is to have:15 different artists
15 different writers
3 merch artists (this position is for merch that would fit the general theme of the current volume)
☆This zine will be 100% free☆This zine will be digital. Details are as follows:
Will contain:
X-page PDF copy of the zine.
X digital merch items.
X is the placeholder; this number will be released to contributors first, then on socials later for supporters☆As of right now TAWS is going to be STRICTLY digital, 8.5 x 11 in size, in RGB color. Interest checks for the project over all not just the individual themes will determine if this stays the same. Depending on applicant status there may be overlap of more that one artist/writer pair up for a singular prompt. AT LEAST ALL 15 WILL BE FILLED FIRST

☆Sample Spot Arts☆

What is Spot Art
These are some examples of applicable spot art for "This Arc Was Skipped" All spot art will have similar conditions as if you were submitting a full page illustration; they must be flat color or detailed black and white, RGB. Level of detail can be discussed with Vintage! Spot art usually is 1-3 pieces that take up either 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2 of a page, and is integrated into the writing.

What isn't Spot Art?
A full page illustration is no longer classified as spot art. Which is also welcome on this project. In this same vein, comics ALSO do not fall under the spot art umbrella but are welcomed in the project.

When applications are open, links will be active!

Each section is curated for artists, merch artists, and writers. Cosplayers/costumers will follow the artist guidelines. Musicians will follow merch artists. If you are unsure of which category you fit in, contact Mod Vintage through any of the socials DM's!

During the contributor application process, a few things will be asked of you. Please remember to provide all requested samples, and if using Google Drive, to set link sharing to “on”. If Vintage cannot access your work or your samples are incomplete, we will have to disqualify your application, so please double check everything is completed on your form!

A link to your portfolio with at least 3 of your best, completed SFW pieces in it; this should be submitted as a Google Drive link with permissions set to “anyone with the line can view.” If submitting any additional pieces with NSFW in your portfolio alongside your 3 SFW, please put them into a separate folder. Please put trigger warnings.
For the 3 SFW examples of your best work Vintage is looking for (ideally) fully colored with backgrounds, reflecting the standard of work you would like to contribute to this zine. Works that match the theme of each volume are NOT REQUIRED but definitely encouraged if you have them! (upon acceptance) An idea of which pitches you would like to work with. All pitches for each volume will be listed in the Discord.
